Tunis, Feb 10, 2021 (TAP) - The head of government Hichem Mechichi said on Wednesday that Tunisia is going through one of the most difficult periods in its history both economically and socially as well as constitutionally and institutionally.
It was during his meeting at the Government Palace in the Kasbah, with a group of constitutional scholars and deans of law schools devoted to the crisis sparked by the cabinet reshuffle.
He underlined that the democratic process engaged in the country for ten years must be preserved and consecrated, considering that the difficulties and the disagreements generated at the level of the interpretation of the Constitution and the legal texts puts us in the obligation to consult expert opinion.
"The question of the reshuffle that has been carried out, in accordance with the Constitution, refers to the delay in the installation of the Constitutional Court, which has the competence to unravel such a situation".
Haykal Ben Mahfoudh, professor of public law at the Faculty of Legal, Political and Social Sciences of Tunis declared at the end of the meeting that the swearing-in crisis is a political crisis par excellence which needs political solutions and negotiations.
